The Workflow is a tool for managing the review and revision cycle of courses.

You can learn more from watching the video on the topic here.

Note: A review cycle can only be started on a course.  Even if you only have one lesson that needs review, it must be added to a course.  See step 1 below on how to create a course.

A typical workflow process would include the following steps:

    1. The course owner assembles the course (for specific instructions, see the Course Edit window page).

    2. The course owner assigns reviewers to the lessons or course as a whole (for specific instructions, see the Course Edit window page).

    3. The course owner publishes the course (for specific instructions, see the Courses page).

    4. The course owner starts the review cycle.

      5. Any user that has been assigned to review one or more lessons in the course will see the course listed in their Review node. They may also receive an email to notify them that they have been assigned a course to review.

      6. The reviewers open the review task for the course, which launches a separate browser window for reviewing the course.

      7. The reviewer approves or disapproves the lessons that they have been assigned to review. The reviewer can also leave comments on any page of the lessons that they have been assigned. For those lessons that are NOT assigned to a reviewer, he/she can view the lesson content and associated comments, but cannot make comments or set the approval status. The review step is completed when all reviewers have either approved or disapproved the lessons that they have been assigned. It will autmoatically be removed from the My Assigned Tasks > Review folder.

      8. The course owner opens the revise task for the course, which launches a separate browser window for viewing comments and the approval status of the lessons. The course owner edits the lessons based on feedback from the reviewers and responds to comments using a threaded discussion feature in the revise window. The revise step is completed when all review comments are closed, either by making a response comment, or by using the "mark as read" button.

      9. The course owner may decide to re-start the review cycle once edits have been completed to provide the opportunity for reviewers to re-review the updated content. Comments from previous review cycles will be retained, but the approval status of all lessons will be reset to "not reviewed", indicated by a yellow yield sign icon.
