Video 9: Using dynamic values

In this tutorial, you will use variables to collect the learner’s name, calculate their score, and display their name and score on a certificate.

Video: Complex Navigation with Global Events

In this video, we'll figure out how to set up the actions necessary to only show the Next button when the learner has completed an activity on the page, and then how to remember which pages have been completed to reshow the Next button on the appropriate pages.

This video will show you how to get the learner's name from the LMS, reformat it, and display it on a certificate page, along with the date.  It will also show you how to print just the certificate (instead of the entire page).

Video: Creating Try Again feedback

In this video we're going to give different feedback based on how many times a learner attempts a question.  For the first two attempts, the learner will get feedback telling them to Try Again, but on the third attempt, they will get incorrect feedback, and the Question Set will serve up the next question.

Video: Creating a Quiz that generates a list of lessons to review

This video tutorial is a little specific for general use, but might be a good example of some of the more advanced things SmartBuilder can do. It also explores how to create a dynamic list based on certain criteria (which questions were answered incorrectly).

In this video we're going to learn how to embed YouTube videos into a SmartBuilder lesson using the IFrame.  For more information on the IFrame see the IFrame help page here.

Video: Global Events - Play and Pause buttons (Master Page to Regular Page)

This tutorial shows you how to set up a Global Event to communicate from the Master Page to a Regular Page.  The same Play and Pause buttons are available on the Master Page, and are used to play and pause audio, video or timelines on regular pages in the lesson

Video: Global Percent Tracker

Learn how to set up a percent tracker on the Maser Page that updates as the learner goes through the lesson completing various exercises.  This video assumes that you are already familiar with Variables and Global Events.  If not, please review those video tutorials first.

Video: MP4 and FLV format videos in SmartBuilder (video URL and extensions)

Here's a video to show how to use MP4 videos in your SmartBuilder lesson (even though FLV is the only officially supported format at this time).

You can use the same method for hosting FLV videos outside the lesson, too.  Simply upload the FLV to a publicly viewable place, and then get the URL (must end in FLV or MP4) and then paste it into the FLV URL property.

This video tutorial will show you how to construct your SmartBuilder lesson in a way that optimizes it for translation to various languages.

Video: Translation Process

This video will show you how to create translations for your lessons, export text to get translated, and then import it back into your lesson.

Summary:

  • Open the lesson.
  • Prepare your lesson for translation using the information from the Translation Tips video.
  • Go to File > Translate.
  • Create new Translation(s).
  • Save and close your lesson.
  • Go to Work In Progress > Lessons.
  • Select the lesson, then choose Tools > Export Text.
  • Select the language you wish to download.
  • Do not edit the lesson until after you have imported the text back in.
  • Use Excel to update place the translation in the Modified Localization Text column.
  • Do not modify any hidden column or rows.
  • Save the spreadsheet.
  • Back in SmartBuilder, use Tools > Import Text to bring the text back in.
  • Use the File > Translate tool to replace any images, video, or audio used in the lesson.

Typically, you will use the tab object in conjunction with a display set. The displays will contain the content to be shown when each tab is clicked.
